The McConnell Vista Program
Many students face significant challenges on the road to academic success. The purpose of the McConnell Vista Program is to provide financial and non-financial support to students who have the potential to be successful at community college, but who might not otherwise have the opportunity. This program offers a monetary award of up to $2,200 per year for students who wish to complete an AA transfer degree, AS degree or Certificate Program at College of the Siskiyous or Shasta College, as well as development opportunities and caring attention and guidance. Recipients may renew the scholarship for a total of two years of service. You are eligible to apply for The McConnell Vista Program if you:
- Are a resident of The McConnell Foundation Scholarship Programs service area
- Will be 21 or under by May 1st before your first term at college
- Intend to enroll full time at College of the Siskiyous or Shasta College in a degree or certificate program
- Will have earned a high school diploma or GED before starting college
- Can demonstrate financial need
- Have not already earned a significant number of college units
- Are not, or are not a family member of, any McConnell Foundation board member, Program Services staff member, exempt employee, or current Scholarship Review and Selection Committee Member
Recipients for The McConnell Vista program are chosen from the pool of eligible applicants based on a variety of factors, including academic and personal potential, challenges faced, work ethic and community spirit.
Nominate a Student for the Vista Scholarship
If you are an educator or concerned community member interested in nominating a student who could benefit from The McConnell Vista Program, please contact the Scholarship Program Officer for more details. Recommendations are taken very seriously during the selection process and significantly increase an applicant’s chances of being chosen as a recipient. It’s relatively quick and easy, and even if it doesn’t result in a scholarship, it’s still a great way to provide affirmation and support for your student.
