Music in the Streets of Downtown – Grant for Buskers

 In Blog, Community Vitality, Uncategorized

The McConnell Foundation has granted Viva Downtown a grant to help support live music in downtown through a series: Summer Nights with Major Seventh.

Viva Downtown is a National Main Street organization.

Musicians will include Jacob Akana, Emily Stoltz, Rob Trent, and Daniel V. Lindberg.

These local musicians will busk (to busk = to entertain in a public place for donations).

To catch a glimpse of some of the most famous places in the world for buskers, check out this piece by the Project for Public Spaces.

Here is how Viva Downtown is described: “We are a volunteer, non-profit group dedicated to enhancing the cultural, social and economic development of Downtown Redding. We bring life to the heart of Redding through innovative projects, programs and partnerships.” The McConnell Foundation is pleased to join with Viva Downtown and community partners to support Summer Nights with Major Seventh.

Below is a map of the places to spot this “random act of art” this summer. Each location is within the newly-designated Redding Cultural District. What is the Redding Cultural District?
