Mountain Valleys Health Center – Weed Health Center – Weed, CA
The McConnell Foundation is proud to support Mountain Valleys Health Centers (MVHC) and the renovation of the Weed Health Center in Siskiyou County.
MVHC has served rural communities for more than 40 years. Today, its network provides accessible healthcare across Siskiyou, Shasta, and Modoc counties. Services include primary care, dental care, behavioral health, specialty care, and telehealth.
When MVHC acquired the Weed Health Center in 2018, the aging facility was at risk of closing. Without the clinic, many low-income and uninsured residents would have faced significant barriers to receiving care close to home. Today, the clinic serves approximately 2,500 patients each year.
The $1.4 million renovation transformed the 50-year-old facility into a safer, more accessible, and modern healthcare environment. Improvements include upgraded patient spaces, enhanced security, accessible restrooms, improved emergency access, a new roof, and more efficient spaces for patients and staff.
The McConnell Foundation provided funding to complete the project with essential furnishings, medical equipment, and updated technology. The investment helped purchase new adjustable exam tables, computers, furniture, and other equipment needed to fully equip the renovated facility.
The Weed Health Center reopened its doors in January 2026, allowing staff to return to the renovated facility and continue providing care to the community.
