Ono Grange Rebuild Project – Ono, CA
The Ono Grange has long been at the heart of the southwestern Shasta County community. Since 1930, the Grange has provided a place for neighbors, families, farmers, and ranchers to gather, connect, and support one another.
That gathering place was lost in the Zogg Fire of September 2020, when the historic Ono Grange Hall was destroyed. For the communities of Ono, Igo, Gas Point, and the surrounding Trinity Alps Preserve, the loss was more than the destruction of a building. It meant the loss of a place where generations of neighbors had celebrated traditions, held meetings, supported local organizations, and came together during times of need.
In 2025, the community celebrated the completion of a new Ono Grange Hall, marking an important milestone in the community’s recovery. The new two-story building restores a much-needed gathering space and provides a place for long-standing traditions and community activities to continue for generations to come.
The McConnell Foundation was proud to support the Ono Grange Rebuild Project as part of the community’s effort to restore this important gathering place. Along with insurance proceeds, PG&E settlement funds, grants, and community support, philanthropic investments helped turn the vision of a new Grange Hall into reality.
The completed building represents more than a rebuilt structure. It represents resilience, community, and the power of neighbors coming together. With its doors open once again, the Ono Grange can continue its legacy of bringing people together, supporting local organizations, preserving traditions, and strengthening the communities it has served for nearly a century.
