Yreka Carnegie Library Rehabilitation Project – Yreka, CA
One of the most significant projects the Siskiyou County Job Council took on is the rehabilitation of Yreka’s historic Carnegie Library. Built more than 100 years ago, the library is an important part of Yreka’s history and identity.
The Siskiyou County Job Council led the effort to transform the historic building into a vibrant community asset. The completed project helps anchor the revitalization of Yreka’s West Miner Historic District while providing a new gathering place for the community.
The restored Carnegie Library now offers indoor meeting spaces and outdoor event areas. It provides a welcoming venue for community gatherings, educational programs, local events, and economic development activities.
The McConnell Foundation was proud to support this effort with a grant, helping provide the final funding needed to bring the project to completion.
Today, the restored Carnegie Library stands as a symbol of community pride, preservation, and possibility. It honors Yreka’s history while creating new opportunities for connection, collaboration, and economic growth.
