In a day-long session focused on economic development, McConnell Foundation staff posed this question to the 2022 class of Leadership Redding: “Whose voices do we need to hear more from in Downtown Redding?” Participants wrote their responses down on index cards and shared them aloud with the group:

Bell Plaza – Shasta Bike Depot with Shasta Living Streets

  • Access to active transportation options as an important factor in economic mobility for low-income
  • Cycling & the tourism portion of our economy
  • Role of bike-related improvements as a component of the larger grants our community has been pursuing recently

Shasta College Community Leadership Center

  • Economic & Workforce Development programming expansion
  • Inclusive Economic Development through The Alliance Project
  • Job training & community education for downtown residents
